Here’s a wonderful story about how everything works out when we move forward with a positive attitude.
My friend Carrie was thrilled to hear that her apartment’s cranky neighbor of 12 years would be leaving - finally! Just as she was starting to celebrate her newfound peace and freedom, her landlord told her he was going to sell the property and she'd have to move. What???
After spending weeks getting depressed and angry and resisting the whole idea, she decided that she didn't want to be in this position again. It was time to buy a home of her own. She got excited about that idea and started looking. She quickly found a house in Oakland in a mixed residential/industrial area that was just what she wanted – a small house with a big yard, no neighbors on either side in a dead-end street with very little traffic, walking distance to BART and shops in an area that she was familiar with, plus the price was right.
Hers was one of twelve - yes, twelve - offers on the house, including one full cash offer. But the owners chose to sell to her because they liked her story of who she is (she's a wonderful therapist) and could tell that she loved the house. The whole process from her initial decision to buy to actually moving in had taken only two months! When you have clarity, things happen quickly and easily. To top it off, she’d been a bit concerned about what her new neighbors would be like, and it turned out that the woman who lived across the street was one of her former co-workers, whose daughter lived next door and son lived down the block! So she was surrounded by good people and they were thrilled to have her in the neighborhood. Oh, and did I mention that her landlord was totally flexible about the timing of her move and mailed her full security deposit within a day of her moving out?
This is a perfect example of one of my favorite sayings - "I don't know how, but somehow this is all going to turn out better than I ever expected."
My “Choosing Happiness” classes will run all summer. In addition to the Tuesday evening and Friday noon classes, I’ll be offering a six-week class on Monday mornings at 10 am at Crèche Salon in Willow Glen, starting on July 14th. And if you can't get to a class in person, the next Wednesday teleclass will start on August 6th. If you could use a tune up or a boost of positivity, drop into any class any time.
I hope you’re having a delightful summer!
